Michigan has set ambitious climate goals, and a growing range of state, federal, and private funding exists to help meet them. But for many communities, turning that funding into real projects is the hardest part. Programs are complex, timelines are tight, and the capacity to plan, apply for, and finance projects isn’t evenly distributed across the state.

 

The Michigan Climate Investment Hub was created in 2025 to close that gap. Incubated by the Office of Climate and Energy at the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), the Hub is a collaboration between EGLE, The Kresge Foundation, 5 Lakes Energy, and Michigan Central.

We work at the intersection of project development, public policy, and capital alignment. Local governments, community organizations, project developers, and funders each hold part of the solution, and we bring them to the same table. We help promising ideas become financed, shovel-ready projects, and we help capital reach the places where it can do the most good.
